The normal landline numbers have an area code with them which needs to be dialed before you dial the number, The call charges of dialing to other city are also more than the call charges of dialing locally. Free 0845 numbers being a non geographic numbers don’t  have any area code in them hence they cannot be associated with any area unlike the normal landline numbers.

When you market your business number to your clients partners or potential customers. Suppose a customer is located in some other city than your business centre and the customer also have a number of your competitor which is located in his own city. Now the customer has two landline numbers, one of the vendor who is in his own city and one (you) who is located in some other city. The location of the business is depicted by the number that both of the competitors marketed.

In the current scenario who do you think will the customer go to, a local vendor or will call a vendor who is in some other city. Obviously the local one.

This problem can easily be solved by getting free 0844 number for your business number, the number then will not give any idea about your location and the customer will feel like calling a local number when dialing you 0800 number.
